The 49th Wing held its annual Holiday Festival, Dec. 7, at the Base Exchange here.

This event was open to anyone with base access, allowing families and individuals an opportunity to bond during the festivities. There were bouncy castles, food trucks, free pictures with Santa and much more.

“The annual Wing Holiday Festival kicked off a wonderful time of year and celebrates many different holiday traditions,” said 2nd Lt. Ashley Corkins, 49th Wing Holiday Festival co-project officer. “We are thankful for the base-wide support and the behind-the-scene players that made this year’s event a success.”

After the main portion of the event at the Base Exchange, the crowd walked to the Chapel for the menorah and Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

“The ceremony consisted of the wing commander’s holiday remarks; Christmas tree and Hanukkah blessing and prayers; and then the lighting of the Christmas tree and menorah,” said Staff Sgt. Zachary Curry, 49th Wing Chapel religious affairs Airman. “This event is important because it brings the community together and allows the Chapel to provide religious accommodation to Airmen and their families.”

After the tree and menorah were lit by a family of a service member currently serving overseas, individuals were invited inside the Chapel for hot cocoa and cookies. The 49th Wing looks forward to the next annual Holiday Festival.
