Holloman plays host to the 309th FS
Two F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 309th Fighter Squadron, 56th Fighter Wing, Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., taxi to a hangar at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Dec. 7. The 309 FS deployed 18 F-16s and 190 supporting personnel to Holloman AFB to test infrastructure, range, and airspace capabilities to support the F-16 formal training unit, which will be moving to Holloman AFB. Holloman AFB First Sergeant's Council Diamond Tree 2012
Members of the Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., First Sergeant’s Council pose around the Diamond Tree Nov. 21 at The Exchange. The Diamond Tree, sponsored by the Holloman AFB First Sergeant’s Council, contains more than 100 ornaments that provide the name of a child, clothing size, and gift idea for those who would like to help children of military families who are struggling financially. Holloman AFB Sports Day 2012
Captain Emily Grabowski, 49th Wing Public Affairs, leads a pack of runners to the finish line during a two-mile fun run during the Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Sports Day Nov. 16. As an added incentive to the last sporting event of the day, Team Holloman members were offered a one-day pass if they beat the 49th Wing vice commander, Col. Ken Ekman, and a free beverage if they crossed the finish line before the 49th Wing commander, Col. Andrew Croft. The goal of Sports Day, run by the Domenici Fitness and Sports Center staff, was to bring all of Team Holloman together to compete in and build camaraderie through different sporting events. Holloman AFB Sports Day 2012
Airman 1st Class Joshua Sandberg, 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron, throws a football during the Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Sports Day Nov. 16 at the Domenici Fitness and Sports Center’s football field. Squadrons from around the base each had four representatives who competed against each other and participants from other squadrons in trying to achieve the furthest thrown distance of the football. Team Holloman’s Sports Day consisted of many events, including a nine-hole golf tournament, racquetball tournament, tennis tournament, horseshoes tournament, a three-mile relay, and a bowling tournament. Holloman Commissary
Kyaw Khen, a sushi chef at the Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Commissary creates a salad roll Sept. 12. Since its addition to the deli at the Commissary in September 2011, the sushi bar has generated an average of $30,000 a month. VBS Fun
Children participating in the Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., Vacation Bible School make a circle around their group leaders as they prepare to play a water game at the base Chapel Aug. 3. During the game, the children tried to receive water balloons without getting sprayed by water from their group leaders. The VBS program, a week-long event sponsored by the wing’s chapel staff, is offered to all children of Team Holloman.
