The Holloman Tax Center will be open Monday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., accepting appointments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., accepting appointments from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., starting Feb. 1 through April 18.

Holloman's tax center is located at the Community Center in building 325, on the second floor opposite Oasis Pizza. Services will be available to active duty Airmen, their dependents and retirees only, at no cost.

“To ensure a smooth process, we recommend customers first call to make an appointment," said Master Sgt. Bryan Hawk, 49th Wing Judge Advocate non-commissioned officer in charge of general law. "We also ask customers to arrive at least 15 minutes early for their appointments with their Social Security Card(s), their previous year's tax return and all 2016 tax documents, such as W-2's, 1095-B's and 1099's. For married couples, it is preferred to have both in attendance."

The Tax Center highly recommends customers bring the 1095-B, which is proof of insurance coverage, to the appointment. Members who are currently deployed are eligible for an automatic six-month filing extension.

“Anyone whose spouse will be deployed during the tax season may use this service.” said Hawk There are varied methods to obtain the deployed member's signature to include the use of a Power of Attorney from the Legal Office, located in building 811, giving their spouse or designated individual power to file on their behalf.”

Active duty, DOD civilians and spouses are volunteering their time to the Tax Center during this year's tax season.

"This wouldn’t be possible without efforts from all the volunteers that makes this critical service available," said Hawk. "Overall, we look forward to continuing the tradition of providing outstanding service to Holloman and the community.
