Air Force Command Posts ensure base operations and communications run proficiently and effectively under any condition.

The 49th Wing’s Command Post has created a new, easy to carry, pocket sized, reference guide to assist leadership in knowing what events are reportable.

If an aircraft mishap were to interfere with base operations it is up to other units to notify their command post, allowing them to alert leadership.

“I am very proud of my team for their ability to think creatively,” said Maj. Jacob Henderson, 49th Wing Command Post chief. “They have developed an outstanding product that can assist our leaders in knowing what events are reportable."

The 49th Wing’s Command Post is responsible for personnel and assets that fall under four major commands including Air Combat Command, Air Education and Training Command, Air Force Materiel Command and Air Force Reserve Command.

Each MAJCOM provides the command post with different responsibilities that they are obligated to meet. This new pocket guide reduces the amount of time that may be required for specific issues.

“With fewer people and higher operations tempos, it can be difficult for local leadership to keep track of what higher headquarter leaders deem important enough to push up to their level,” said Henderson. “This guide provides an easy to carry product that can be referenced to ensure the required reporting is accomplished.”

Innovation within the Air Force is not only welcomed but celebrated, because it creates an environment for Airmen to practice excellence in all they do.

“Innovative ideas like this allow Air Force leaders to maximize their situational awareness, take care of their Airmen and accomplish the mission,” said Senior Master Sgt. Mitchell Schwartz, ACC C2 Operations manager.
