National Women's History Month kicks off

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --
National Women's History Month kicks off at Holloman March 1 with this year's theme as "Generations of Women Moving History Forward."
According to the National Women's History month Web site, http://www.nwhp.org/whm/pressrelease.php, the theme celebrates the wisdom and tenacity of prior and future generations of women, and recognizes the power and impact of generations working together. Moving History Forward is a process of individuals coming together for the greater good of the society and confirming the idea that individuals working together can be effective in building a better, more compassionate world.
A host of events are scheduled at Holloman throughout the month.
--Resume Building Class - From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 7 and March 14 in the Airman and Family Readiness Center. For more information, call 572-7754.
--Women's Fitness Day - A women's fitness day will be held in conjunction with the base fun run March 15 at the fitness center. In addition to the run, the day will consist of a Health and Wellness Center booth and seminars on various women's health information. For more information, call Ms. Adriane Barraza at 572-3778.
--Government Job Search Class - From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21 in the Airman and Family Readiness Center. For more information, call 572-7754.
--Women's History Month Luncheon - A culminating luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 27 in the Officers' Club. Both men and women are invited to attend. Guest speaker will be Ms. VanAnn Moore, a one woman-musical theater.
--Women of Merit - The National Women's History Month committee is now accepting nominations for the 2007 Holloman Women of Merit. In 500 words or less, nominators should explain why their nominees should be highlighted as one of Holloman's Women of Merit. Submissions should include greatest accomplishments, community involvement, and personal sacrifices. Nominations are open to active duty personnel, DoD Civilians, and Dependents. A nomination will be chosen every week for the month of March. All nominations will be considered and selectees will be highlighted in the Hollogram. Deadline for this week's nomination, is March 2. In addition, a women's history display will be set up in the Committee of 50 Room of the Officers' Club and a career day is tentively scheduled at the Holloman schools.
