HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The 49th Medical Group hosted a ceremony to officially recognize its patient care platform transition to Military Health System (MHS) Genesis June 13, 2022, here.
MHS Genesis is a health records system that improves patient safety oversight and data sharing across military health operations. The system is used by more than 9.5 million DoD beneficiaries and about 205,000 military health system personnel across the globe.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to has had a real positive attitude to learning the new system and I even spoke with a patient who hadn’t noticed we had switched over,” said Col. Valerie Castle, 49th MDG commander. “Our ultimate goal was to make this transition seamless for our patients.”
The U.S. Air Force Medical Service’s promise is to provide trusted care, anywhere, and MHS Genesis is just one way the 49th MDG is trying to uphold that promise.
“Technology evolves so quickly and MHS Genesis is a program that constantly evolves with it to improve patient care and safety,” said Capt. Rhendy Amador, 49th MDG MHS Genesis site point of contact. “It’s like instruments in a doctor’s office, if you don’t update your instruments you might be able to get the job done, but can you really provide the best patient care available on the market?”
The previous patient care platform, Tricare Online, was officially sunset on June 11, 2022. All Tricare beneficiaries can access their previous healthcare information, schedule appointments and communicate with their primary care managers using the MHS Genesis platform at https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/authenticate.do?execution=e1s1
