A family tradition

Retired Col. David and his daughter, Cadet 2nd Class Kaitlyn, ride back to the debriefing room after Kaitlyn’s first flight in an Air Force jet July 12, 2016 at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. David coordinated with Detachment 1 of the 82nd Aerial Target Squadron to surprise his daughter with a bucket of water after she got out of the jet. Drenching pilots with water after milestones in their career is a tradition that began in Vietnam, and one that David had the opportunity to pass on to his daughter.
