Q1. What can I expect to see at the air show? 

A1. The Legacy of Liberty Air Show is a celebration of 75 years of Airpower and we have a lot in store! We’re proud to have the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration team and F-35A Lightning II demonstration team showing off the capabilities of the Air Force’s newest multi-role fighter aircraft. We also have demonstrations from the United States Air Force Academy Wings of Blue parachute team and the Army’s Black Dagger helicopter unit. Guests will also get to see several heritage aircraft, or warbirds, each with its own history and having left its mark in history serving in major conflicts of the past. The air show will also have several kid-friendly activities to include a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) area. We’re currently in the planning phase of our air show and working tirelessly to make this event one to remember! Q2. When is the air show, and how much does it cost? 

A2. The air show is scheduled for May 7 & 8, 2022. The gates are open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The air show is FREE and open to everyone!

Q3. When will the aerial acts start? 

A3. We are still in the planning phases of our air show. A full schedule will be released as we get closer to the event.

Q4. What type of I.D. do I have to show to get on base? 

A4. There are no specific I.D. requirements to get into the air show however, all attendees are subject to search. We encourage all guests 16 years and older to have a valid form of I.D. just in case. Drivers should also maintain proper vehicle registration and insurance documents as required by New Mexico law. 

Q5. Are pets allowed? 

A5. We welcome certified service animals to the air show. Be advised, owners will be asked to show appropriate documentation for their service animal upon entry to the air show grounds. Service animals must remain on a leash at all times.

Q6. Will the air show be broadcast online or anywhere else? 

A6. No. The air show will not be broadcast online or televised. If you want to see the aerial demonstrations and static displays, you’ll have to come in person!

Q7. Can I bring a camera or video recorder? 

A7. Yes, cameras and video recorders are allowed and encouraged to capture the memories, please see our complete list of prohibited items to know what you should leave at home.

Q8. Will the air show be cancelled if weather is bad?

A8. We have and will go on as planned rain or shine. Schedules may be altered or delayed for periods of time if heavy rainfall occurs. Follow our airshow event page on Facebook for the latest updates. 

Q9. Are coolers and backpacks permitted? 

A9. No, coolers and ice chests are not allowed. Large backpacks and duffel bags are not allowed but small bags such as purses or diaper bags are permitted. Click here for a full list of permitted and prohibited items.

Q10. Where do I park and is there a price for parking? 

A10. A parking plan will be implemented and all vehicles will be directed by members of Team Holloman. There is no parking fee. Updates will be made as the event approaches. Check back here for the latest information.

Q11. Is there disabled/handicap parking available? 

A11. Yes, there will be disabled/handicap parking available. Updates will be made as the event approaches. Check back here for the latest information.

Q12. Can I drive an RV to the air show? 

A12. No, RVs will not be allowed to be driven to the air show area.

Q13. Can I bring my own folding chair or blanket? 

A13. Yes, for the comfort and convenience of our guests, personal folding chairs and blankets are allowed. To view a list of permitted and prohibited items please click here. 

Q14. Can I bring a large umbrella, tent or awning? 

A14. Large personal umbrellas, tents and awnings could be safety hazard and are not allowed at the air show. Check out our list of prohibited and permitted items here.

Q15. Can I bring my own snacks and drinks?

A15.  A wide selection of food and beverages will be available for purchase. Guests may bring water in non-glass containers, and only guests with special dietary and allergy concerns may bring small amounts of food. Other outside beverages, including alcoholic beverages and those in glass containers will not be permitted in the air show area.

Q16. Will there be vegetarian or vegan food options? 

A16. We will have a variety of food and beverage options for purchase but the base cannot guarantee food options will meet all special dietary needs or restrictions.

Q17. Are first-aid facilities on site? 

A17. Yes, we will have several medical tents staffed with our 49th Medical Group and EMT personnel to provide first aid. 

Q18. What do I need to bring to an air show? 

A18. We recommend you bring a few things to keep you and your family safe from the elements and the noise. Sunscreen, water, proper attire and footwear, and some ear protection are a few things you might want to keep on hand. PRE-FLIGHT CHECKLIST. 

Q19. How do I get there? 

A19. Holloman AFB is located off of Highway 70. Signs and Team Holloman members will be pre-positioned to direct all patrons to the air show parking areas. Check back here for more specific details as the event nears.

Q20. Will there be any food or souvenirs available?

A20. Yes, there will be concessions at the air show for food, drinks and souvenirs.

Q21. Is tailgating allowed?

A21. No, guests may not bring alcoholic beverages on Holloman AFB. Beverages, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic, will be available for purchase.

Q22. Will restroom facilities be easily accessible?

A22. Yes, port-a-potties will be available throughout the air show grounds.

Q23. Can I take pictures or get autographs?

A23. Yes, there will be opportunities to get both! Many of the performers make themselves available for autographs and pictures during the show.

Q24. Will it be necessary to have hearing protection?

A24. Yes. The Legacy of Liberty Air Show will offer guests an up-close look at 75 years of Airpower and some amazing aerial demonstrations which means there will be quite a bit of jet noise. Visitors are highly encouraged you bring hearing protection – especially for children.

Q25. Will there be shade?

A25. There will be a limited amount of areas on the flight line that provide shade. 

Q26. Is smoking allowed?

A26. Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas. Marijuana and illicit drugs can't be brought onto Holloman AFB.

Q27. How much will VIP/reserved seating cost and where do I purchase tickets?

A27. Premier seating is available for purchase, parking is free for all attendees. Check back here for more details as we get closer to the air show.
