Soaring Heights Communities has opened the doors to the first series of new homes at Holloman AFB. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate this milestone and to officially hand-over the keys to the first new home.

"This is more than a celebration of building new homes," said Ryan Kleinau, project director. "It is a celebration of the fact that we are enhancing and improving the lives of Airmen and their families here at Holloman."

Col. Jeffrey Harrigian, commander 49th Fighter Wing, agreed, "This is about our Airmen and the type of housing they deserve. Together we will make sure our Airmen are taken care of."

The first families were able to move in to their new homes following the ceremony last Thursday. The new homes are 20-40 percent larger than many of the homes Airmen have been living in for years and feature a variety of upgrades focused on easing the lives of Airmen and their Families. Roomy master bedrooms suites, open floor plans, spacious kitchen with islands, energy efficient appliances, technology niches, and covered porches for integrated indoor/outdoor living are just a few of the highlights the new homes have to offer.

In addition, the community has been designed to include pedestrian friendly streets, spacious community centers, sports fields, playgrounds and other amenities focused on easing the lives of Military Families.

Developer Actus Lend Lease began construction on Soaring Heights Communities in July 2007. During the development period, Actus Lend Lease will build 388 new three and four bedrooms homes and renovate an additional 420 existing homes at Holloman AFB.

Soaring Heights Communities will continue to develop, build, renovate, finance and maintain the homes until 2057.
