As the winter holidays and the New Year rapidly approach, let me personally thank each of you for your selfless contributions on behalf of our great nation. Your efforts ensure safety, security and liberty at home and in many places around the globe.

During the holidays, I encourage you to take some time to relax, unwind and recharge your batteries. In concert with Air Combat Command and Air Force policy, we authorize the liberal use of leave and earned time off so that many of you can spend time with family and friends.

As you do so, I ask that you keep safety in your crosscheck. Make sure your plans are sound, and keep your supervisor and wingmen posted of any changes or challenges that arise. Each of us must also be vigilant leaders and wingmen, as this time of year can be stressful and lonely for some of our Airmen.

I applaud your efforts and thank you for what you do for our country every day. Kim and I wish you a joyous and safe holiday season!
