5/18/2012 - WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, N.M. -- On May 19, White Sands Missile Range will conduct a series of intermittent roadblocks on U.S. Highway 70 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this timeframe a large number of military tactical vehicles will periodically be moving south to north across the highway at mile marker 174, east of the missile range access road.

These large, slow moving military vehicles are part of the ongoing Network Integration Evaluation 12.2 being conducted at WSMR. These roadblocks will go on throughout the day and be closely monitored by WSMR police. Motorists are asked to travel through this area with caution.

On May 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23, there may be a few sporadic roadblocks lasting about 5 to 10 minutes.

"These are a bit different than our typical WSMR roadblocks. Safety of the public and all the NIE participants is, as always, our primary concern," said WSMR Public Affairs Specialist Cammy Montoya.

WSMR officials state that all roadblocks are subject to change without notice. For more information please call the Range Control Center at (575) 678-1178 or the Public Affairs Office at (575) 678-1134.
