TRICARE Dental Program changes

6/27/2012 - HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- TRICARE Dental Program recently transferred from United Concordia insurance to Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Inc., increasing benefits for active-duty dependents and National Guard and Reserve members and their dependents.
Although the policy has been in place since May 1, many dependents may not be aware of the changes in coverage.
"The main difference between MetLife and United Concordia is the increased coverage in orthodontics," said 2nd Lt. Leslie Martell, 49th Medical Support Squadron TRICARE operations and patient administration element chief.
TDP enrollees will see an increase of benefits, to include coverage of posterior white (resin) fillings; annual maximum increase per enrollee from $1,200 to $1,300; lifetime orthodontic maximum increase from $1,500 to $1,750; accidental coverage; and no cost shares for diabetics for scaling and root planning.
"MetLife is a very welcome new partner to the TDP," said Brig. Gen. W. Bryan Gamble, TRICARE deputy director, in a TRICARE news release. "The company shares in our commitment to provide top quality health care to our servicemembers and their families."
