10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. -- Kathy Hauge, an Otero County artist, describes details in the painting she dedicated to the Buffalo Soldiers and New Mexico historical landmarks such as White Sands National Monument and the Sacramento Mountains Sept. 27, 2011, at First National Bank. The painting will be hung on display at the bank temporarily, and then returned to Hauge. Members of the Buffalo Soldiers Society of New Mexico visited the area to educate people with real life Civil War artifacts, reenactments and brochure hand-outs for anyone interested.
