'Ghost Warriors' celebrate heritage room
HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Gervase Peso, Vietnam Veteran and member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, poses with a Lieutenant Colonel from the 29th Attack Squadron and Mark Chino, president of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, during the grand opening of the heritage room Nov. 19, 2010. Mr. Peso's artwork is showcased on the wall specifically for the 29th ATKS "Ghost Warriors" to affirm heritage associated with the reactivation of the squadron on 23 October 2009 at Holloman. President Chino was presented with an MQ-9 Reaper photograph in dedication of his support and continued relationship with the squadron. The ceremony kicked off with food and drinks followed by a blessing of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft made significant with a tribal chant that also honored famous Apache leaders such as Geronimo and Chochise.
