Around Holloman: Lifeguard on duty

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Airman Terry Phelan, 49th Force Support Squadron, checks the temperature of the pool at the Domenici Fitness Center May 5, 2010. Airman Phelan is the afternoon lifeguard at the gym and assumes many responsibilities such as keeping accountability of all people coming in and out of the pool hall, assessing first aid if needed and being a distinct swimmer. To accomplish these things, a lifeguard must be physically fit and feel comfortable in the water. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Eileen Payne / Released)
