Coalition brings smile to Iraqi family
Juma Flalih Husayn and his daughter Zaenab, 2, share a moment before preparing for the trip home at Joint Base Balad, Iraq, May 2. Zaenab recently underwent cleft lip and palate reconstruction at the Air Force Theatre Hospital, April 29. "A lot of kids with deformities get shunned, and that affects them for the rest of their life," said Air Force Lt. Col. Douglas Gottschalk, the otolaryngologist of Air Force Theatre Hospital. "A one day surgery [we performed], that's going to affect her for the rest of her life. That's a major thing." (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Carl N. Hudson)
