One Military Day - Holloman AFB, N.M.

Staff Sgt. Michael McMonigle, 54th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, services the Emergency Power Unit on an F-16 Fighting Falcon at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., April 8, 2015. The EPU is essential to keeping the jet functional if the main power source fails. McMonigle, who has been in the Air Force for eight years, chose his job as a crew chief. “My grandfather was in World War II, so he really inspired and motivated me to serve,” said McMonigle. “Throughout my career, I’ve been able to go to cool places that I never would have imagined. As a crew chief, my job is to maintain the greatest fighter jets and make sure these jets are ready to go anytime.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Aaron Montoya / Released)
