One Military Day - Holloman AFB, N.M.

Airman 1st Class Kalen Van Volkenburg, Services specialist, peels and smashes avocado to be served during lunch at the Shifting Sands Dining Facility on Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., April 8, 2015. Force Support Squadrons oversee areas such as the dining facilities, lodging, mortuary affairs, military personnel sections and fitness facilities. Van Volkenburg who has been in the services career field for over two years recalls her time as a civilian as being very slow paced compared to being an Airman. Her father, a retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. was her inspiration for joining, seeing his dedication and hard work throughout her childhood gave her strong ties to the military and the Air Force.
