Tour de Mustache

Airmen at Holloman spent all month growing their mustaches to honor Brigadier General Robin Olds. Olds was known for being bold, aggressive, and an amazing leader. He was a triple Ace with a total of sixteen air-to-air kills between World War II and Vietnam. In addition to his amazing leadership and war fighting abilities, Olds is known for the "bullet-proof mustache" he grew after the success of his unit during Operation Bolo. As the superstition goes, the presence of a mustache bestows the wearer with an impenetrable shield around him and his aircraft. While Olds grew his mustache beyond Air Force regulations into a waxed masterpiece, our Airmen now follow Air Force Instruction 36-2903 Dress and Appearance. While we are sad to see Mustache March 2016 come to an end, we hope everyone marks their calendars for an even more impressive Tour de Mustache 2K17!
