NHL athlete trains like an F-16 Viper pilot
Capt. Patrick Mayfield, 314th Fighter Squadron instructor pilot, and Scott Mayfield, NHL New York Islanders hockey player, taxi into a hanger after a familiarization flight, Aug. 4, 2021, on Holloman Air Force Base. In addition to the flight, Scott toured the Optimizing the Human Weapon System facility, received aircrew flight equipment egress and parachute training, and visited maintainers on the flight line to understand the correlation of teamwork and training between the NHL and the U.S. Air Force.
