Closures set for May 17 at Holloman

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  Officials with the 49th Wing have announced hours of operations for various base services will be limited Friday, May 17, due to a scheduled Comprehensive Airmen Fitness Day.

The 49th Medical Group will be closed in the morning for appointments and sick call, according to Col. Leslie Knight, 49th MDG commander. The pharmacy will also be closed during this time.

"Offices will reopen for appointments and sick call at 1 p.m.," she said. "For routine issues, you may call the appointment line to schedule an appointment or leave a message for your healthcare team. If you have an emergency during those times, please call 911."

The medical group is closed on all Air Combat Command down days and federal holidays. The group will also be closed on Friday, May 24, for an ACC down day and on Monday, May 27, in honor of Memorial Day.

Additionally, due to limited manning, the 49th Security Forces Squadron's Welcome Center will suspend issuing contractor badges and Defense Biometric Identification System cards for the remainder of the week.

"Personnel will be able to receive a 72 hour visitor pass in lieu of the badge," said Tech. Sgt. Matthew Moxley, non-commissioned officer in charge of the Welcome Center. "We ask those coming to get a pass to please remain patient as we will be extremely short staffed at the Welcome Center."

A Department of Defense-issued identification card is required for anyone attempting to enter Holloman AFB. Visitor passes are also now given through the DBIDS software, which allows the Welcome Center to register visitors with a biometrics profile and keep that profile for up to two years.

The Sound of Freedom could also be heard May 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this time no flights are scheduled for Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12. Schedules can change based on a variety of factors, and scheduled flying windows do not necessarily mean sonic booms will occur.
