Manned QF-4 Drone crashes near Roswell

An Air Force QF-4 Phantom crashed southwest of Roswell, N.M., about 10:30 a.m. today.

"The pilot of the aircraft ejected safely and is in good condition at this time. We're working with local agencies and we are asking the public to cooperate with military and civilian authorities at the scene to ensure the safety of everyone involved," said Col. David Krumm, 49th Wing commander.

The drone aircraft was assigned to and operated by Detachment 1, 82nd Aerial Target Squadron.

Emergency response teams are on the scene at this time.

A board of qualified officers will investigate the accident.
