"It's random acts of kindness," said Amanda Gallagher, 49th FSS Marketing director. "We have 40 balloon bouquets to deliver to people around base who are deserving and some people who just happen to be in our line of site."

The week of delivering balloon bouquets anchored with Hershey Kisses -- custom-made by the Community Activity Center's Balloon Box -- is called "Kissed by FSS" and it began Jan. 10.

One of the first people to be "Kissed" grinned with surprise when two 49th FSS members came bearing gifts and expressing appreciation.

"It brought a little joy to my day," said David Lucoski, 49th Mission Support Group resource advisor. "It's a good way to reach out to people and bring a little joy to people who are working hard."

Ms. Gallagher said the idea of the event is to show Team Holloman how appreciated they are, while also kicking off the Valentine's Day season.

"The Balloon Box can create custom balloon bouquets for Valentine's Day and it doesn't necessarily have to be somebody who you're dating or are married to," said Ms. Gallagher. "You can order a balloon bouquet for everybody to tell them you love them and are glad they're in your life."

She added that "Kissed by FSS" is the first event of many to come in 2011 as part of a customer-appreciation campaign.

"What were trying to do is do an entire campaign this year called 'I Heart FSS.' We will be doing a lot of new and innovative programs to let the base know we appreciate them, and this event is how we're going to start it," Ms. Gallagher said.

Although Valentine's Day is still a month away, Ms. Gallagher said Team Holloman members are as deserving as ever of an unexpected gift.

"The base is working really hard getting prepared for this [Operational Readiness Inspection] so it's nice to remind them that FSS is still behind them and supporting them," she said.

Holloman members will receive 10 percent off balloon orders placed before Jan. 15 at the Balloon Box, located inside the CAC. For more information, contact the CAC at 572-7476.
