The 49th Medical Group may now send acute and urgent care patients from Holloman AFB to the McAfee Clinic, White Sands Missile Range, when appointments are limited on base.

The McAfee Clinic, which is staffed from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., has the capacity to see the overflow of patients who are normally seen by the 49th MDG, the Urgent Care Clinic or the Emergency Room downtown.

Patients will still call the 49th MDG appointment line and if appointments are unavailable, the patient will be given the option to be seen at either the McAfee Clinic or the Urgent Care Clinic. If the patient chooses to be seen at the McAfee Clinic, the 49th MDG will transfer the call to the McAfee appointment line.

Active-duty flyers and active-duty German Air Force personnel will continue to be seen in Flight Medicine, however, Air Force dependents assigned to Flight Medicine may be seen at McAfee Clinic.

WSMR enforces the use of Department of Defense vehicle decals and valid automobile decals expedite entry. Patients may need to leave Alamogordo or Holloman AFB an hour and half to two hours prior to appointment time to make up for the drive time, time to obtain a visitor's pass if needed and show time of 15 minutes before the appointment.

The partnership will reduce the wait time for medical care and will reduce network care costs for the Medical Group.
