The former 49th Fighter Wing command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Jeffrey Cui, ran into some Fightin' 49ers and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James Roy, where Chief Cui says he still talks about the great time he had at Holloman.

Chief Cui is currently assigned to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, where he is the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing command chief.

The chief met up with Master Sgt. Robert Ituarte, Senior Airman Thomas Beil and Airman 1st Class Max Barrett, all from the 49th Force Support Squadron and Staff Sgt. Noe Gutierrez from the 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron. These 49ers are part of the Air Force-led Nangarhar Provincial Reconstruction Team in the area of responsibility.

Chief Cui serves as the senior enlisted U.S. Air Force leader in the Afghanistan Combined Joint Operations Area. He advises the wing commander on matters influencing the health, morale, welfare and effective utilization of the wing's 3,600 enlisted personnel assigned to two main operating bases and 20 forward operating locations. He advises on the development of joint policy for standards of conduct, dress & appearance and morale & welfare for all coalition and joint service enlisted members. The wing provides combat and combat support to U.S. and International Security Assistance Forces in operations against anti-coalition forces.
