The Chief's are proud to award June's Chief's Choice award to Senior Airman Anthony Hayner from the 49th Aeromedical Dental Squadron. He is recognized for his outstanding customer service and professional image.

Chosen by Chief Master Sgt. Kenneth Pease, Airman Hayner is an Ophthalmic Technician currently assigned to the Holloman Air Force Base Optometry Clinic in the 49th Medical Group.

A native of Troy, New York, Airman Hayner arrived at Holloman in March 2007. He has already earned an Associate's Degree in Information Technology and is one class away from his second Community College of the Air Force Associates Degree in Optometric Science.

After completing that, he plans on working toward his bachelor's degree and eventually become an Air Force Dentist.

Airman Hayner said the award was a surprise to him.

"I remember thinking briefly about how I presented myself each time I came into contact with a chief, trying to think of what I did to deserve this," said Airman Hayner. "I remember standing in the middle of that many chiefs for the final photo and feeling small, but in a good way, standing between that many stripes."

Airman Hayner was presented with a certificate and a Holloman Chief's Group coin by Chief Pease.

The Chief's Choice Award was formerly known as the Sharp Troop Award. The award is given by the Holloman Chief's Group to an individual that is identified by a chief as being a superior Airman. The presentation is always done amongst the selected Airman's peers as it is an honor to be the Chief's Choice.
