The Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce invited representatives from Holloman Air Force Base to bring items for its time capsule which reflected what has taken place over the past 25 years at the base.

This is the third time the capsule was buried and the scheduled date for all items to be seen again will take place in December 2033.

For 1983's time capsule, Holloman donated an 833rd Air Division Emblem, a copy of "The Sunburst" newspaper dated Jan. 13, 1984, a replica of the T-38 and F-15 planes and a collection of patches from each organization assigned to Holloman at that time.

For this year's capsule, Capt. James Bressendorff, 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs officer, brought two F-22A posters, a 60th Anniversary pin, a 2007 economic impact statement, a U.S. Flag and various patches.

"It was a great honor to be part of this historic snapshot in time," he said. "In one iteration or another Holloman has been a part of the community since 1943 and we look forward to being a part of the community for a long time to come."

Everyone who attended the time capsule burial ceremony believed this event represented what changes the community has made over the last 25 years.

Mike Espiritu, executive director of the chamber said, "Every 25 years, we can look back and see the significance of what our citizens of Alamogordo have done. When we look back, we can remember the space shuttle that landed here in 1982 and 25 years from now we can see our 44th president who made history."

All items that were presented to the chamber have been wrapped in plastic to make sure they are persevered until the capsule is unearthed in 25 years.
