Airmen of the 49th Civil Engineer Squadron were greeted by family, friends and squadron leadership as they returned home to Holloman Air Force Base from their deploymentJan. 10.

"There were 45 members of the squadron that were deployed," said Master Sgt. Timothy Miles, 49 CES Readiness Emergency Management Flight superintendent.

During the four month deployment, several different 49 CES shops were represented: structures, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning, electricians, heavy equipment, engineering assistants, utilities and supply.

There are many stresses when being deployed, but being away from loved ones is the most notable. Many of the 49 CES Airmen that were deployed left wives, husbands, fiancées and children here at home.

"Being deployed meant hard work, stressful days and long nights, but the separation from my fiancée was the toughest part," said Airman 1st Class Trevor Beck, 49 CES. "She was my driving force and my inspiration to work hard each day."

But all in all, the deployment went well and the Airmen are back at Holloman safely.

Senior Airman Norman Luper, 49 CES, said "I'm glad that I was able to do my part for the mission, but it feels good to be home with my loved ones."
