Airmen of the 49th Security Forces Squadron were welcomed home from a deployment by wing leadership, friends and family Dec. 12 at Holloman Air Force Base.

"The 25 Airmen returned home after two months of training at McGregor Range, Texas, and a six month deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq," said Master Sgt. Cindy McKee 49 SFS First Sergeant. The Airman performed detainee operations alongside the Army.

Brig. Gen. David Goldfein, 49th Fighter Wing commander, came out to welcome the troops home.

"You made a huge difference while you were over there," he said. "Thanks a lot. Also, thanks to the families for your sacrifices."

As the families and the recently deployed troops know, being apart is tough. When Senior Airman Anthony Snell, 49 SFS, left, he'd just gotten married.

"It was long and hard because we were newly weds," said Ms. Destinee Snell. "We talked everyday which made it easier."

Tech. Sgt. Brady McCoy, 49 SFS, said, "It feels wonderful to be home. It feels great getting back to my unit and back to my family."
