The 49th Maintenance Group and 49th Operations Group are in a three-day operational readiness exercise, Nov. 6-8, to ensure they know what to do when put into combat situations in deployed locations.

"The exercise is getting us prepared to respond to real-world alarms used in deployed locations," said Senior Master Sgt. Steven Harmon, 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.  All the alarms being used are the same around the world.

All Airmen are taking the exercise to heart and trying to get the most out of it.

"The exercise is teaching me the importance of training and to always be ready for anything, anytime, anywhere," said Staff Sgt. Sean Moore, 49 AMXS. During the exercise, Sergeant Moore is ensuring that the aircraft is 100 percent mission capable at all times for easy deployment.

Objectives for this exercise are to evaluate combat employment, weapons load crew to load in combat situations, casualty and damage reporting, self-aid and buddy care procedures, post-attack reconnaissance sweeps and casualty transportation, said Sergeant Harmon. The 49 OG is evaluating secure communications during in wartime scenarios.

"The exercise is allowing me a taste of what it would be like in a deployed location," said Airman 1st Class Donald Kuhn. "I am learning how to react in deployed situations so I will be ready when the time comes."
