Holloman Air Force Base has increased its security posture to Force Protection Condition Bravo in accordance with guidance from U.S. Northern Command. There is no specific threat against Holloman or the Alamogordo area.

The USNORTHCOM Commander raised the baseline Force Protection Condition as a prudent measure to remind installation commanders at all levels within the USNORTHCOM area of responsibility to ensure increased vigilance and safeguarding of all DOD personnel, installations and facilities. This change, in addition to random drills or exercises, is a mean to ensure that we effectively execute our force protection mission.

FPCON Bravo applies when an increased and more predictable threat of terrorist activity exists and is part of the five tiered FPCON scale that includes, Normal, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta.

Holloman along with most military installations around the world have been in FPCON Alpha since 2011.

Some of the additional security measures you can expect are:
     - Delays at the base gates.
     - Two forms of identification required when entering some base facilities.
     - Increased patrol activity throughout base conducted by security forces.
     - Parking areas may be blocked to create greater distance from buildings.

Holloman Airmen routinely practice FPCON changes during base exercises and the impact to base operations or their families will be minor.

"The intent of this directive is to ensure random antiterrorism measures are conducted at an unpredictable frequency rather than in response to a specific threat," said Capt. Bryant Davis, chief, 49th wing public affairs. "The safety of our Airmen and families is a top priority, and these actions allow us to produce a discernible element of irregularity in our security posture and procedures."

Team Holloman is asked to be alert for strange activity to include strangers with briefcases and other containers that appear out of the ordinary, unidentified vehicles or abandoned parcels or suitcases. Report any unusual or suspicious activity to the 49th Security Forces Squadron at 575-572-7171.
