Main Gate:

24 hours a day, 365 days a year.


West Gate:

Monday - Friday

Incoming traffic: 6:00 - 8:00 am

Outbound traffic: 6:00 am - 6:00 pm


La Luz Gate:

Monday - Friday

Incoming and outgoing traffic: 6:00 - 8:30 am

Outgoing traffic: 3:30 - 5:30 pm

U.S. Navy Identifies Casualty The U.S. Navy announced today the death of a U.S. Navy pilot who was involved in a mishap at Holloman Air Force Base, NM. Lt. Christopher Carey Short, from Canandaigua, New York died June 22nd when the A-29 aircraft he was piloting crashed while on a mission over the Red Rio Bombing Range, part of White Sands Missile Range, north of Holloman. "There's no way to to describe the shock of this loss and the sadness we feel for his family," said Col. Houston Cantwell, commander of Holloman's 49th Wing. "He did pioneering work in aviation that will help shape American air power for years to come. We're thankful to have known him and grateful for his devotion to duty." An A-29 Super Tucano crashed over the Red Rio Bombing Range at approximately 11:30 a.m. MDT today during a training flight as part of the Air Force's Light Attack Experiment. One aircrew member suffered minor injuries and was airlifted to a local hospital. More information on the second aircrew member will be released when it is available. The crash is currently under investigation, and no cause has been determined at this time. The Red Rio Bombing Range is part of the White Sands Missile Range, a U.S. Army instillation and the Department of Defense's larges, open air test range. Fire and police units from the White Sands Missile Range Directorate of Emergency Services initially responded to the report of the crash. More information will be released when it is available. The ground-based military exercise scheduled for this evening has been canceled.
Aircraft crashes on Red Rio Range The 49th Wing has confirmed a manned aircraft crashed at approximately 11:45 a.m. at Red Rio Bombing Range, 65 miles north of Holloman Air Force Base. The Red Rio Bombing Range is an active Air Force facility that encompasses approximately 196,000 acres on White Sands Missile Range. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident. The condition of the pilots is unknown at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. #MondayMotivation Senior Master Sgt. David Mason, 49th Security Forces logistics and resources superintendent, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement during his deployment to an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, from July 2017 to January 2018. With the followership of several units, Mason accomplished 142 key leader engagements, establish daily security requirements and enable delivery of 36 tons of weapons and ammunition to the front lines. Additionally, he increased the defensive capabilities of his facility’s perimeter with several fortification efforts, including: replacing two miles of concertina wire, deploying 96 star barriers and one ground radar system. The Holloman High-Speed Test Track, operated by the 846th Test Squadron, is one facility that enables test scientists and engineers to meet both of the above criteria. The test track is a 10-mile long, precision-aligned track that provides scientists and engineers a platform from which to conduct their various missions.
