HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --
Ms. Elizabeth Driggers, Senator Tom Udall’s area field representative, recently visited the 704th Test Group. Driggers's trip to the TG focused on familiarization and orientation of activities and capabilities.
The tour emphasized the 846th Test Squadron’s Holloman High Speed Test Track, where Driggers was able to experience a live track test. She also visited the north end target area of the track and the fabrication shops.
Discussions centered on infrastructure improvement and modernization, as well as current and future hypersonic testing at the Track. The 846th is home to the longest (10 miles) and fastest (Mach 8+) test track in the country, and conducts rocket sled testing to enable critical weapon system development in support of the warfighter. In addition to hypersonics, the Track conducts testing on ejection seats, guidance systems, and material erosion effects from rain and thermal heating, among other things.
