Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats cereal recalled Published Oct. 10, 2012 By the 49th Medical Group 49th Wing Public Affairs HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Kellogg Company is voluntarily recalling Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats Bite Size cereal and Kellogg's Mini Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size cereal due to the possible presence of flexible metal mesh fragments from a faulty manufacturing part in a single Kellogg plant between April 1 and Sept. 21. These products have been identified at both the commissary and Shifting Sands Dining Facility on base, and the 49th Medical Group public health flight has coordinated with both facilities to take all appropriate safety measures. Exposure to these products may result in minor cuts, but no injuries have been reported as of Oct. 7. Per the Food and Drug Administration's guidance, Kellogg's is initiating a Class II recall, which requires notifying customers to remove, quarantine and destroy any recalled product remaining in their warehouses and on retail shelves. However, not all of the single-serve bowls from Shifting Sands have been accounted for.
