Based upon the forecast for deteriorating weather conditions, the 49th Wing commander, U.S. Air Force Col. David Krumm, is granting group and tenant organizations the authority to release Holloman Air Force Base personnel early.

Please notify your supervision if you live in or will have to pass through the mountains to get home (Cloudcroft, Ruidoso, Las Cruces). This includes civilian employees who may be released without charge to leave. This does not apply to employees who are already absent from duty.

Contract personnel should follow the guidance of their company leadership, their contract, and collective bargaining agreement where applicable.

We are anticipating a significant winter storm to begin shortly with the forecast being for the mountains and passes to get in excess of six inches of snow and two to four inches of snow in our local area.

Depending upon the actual severity of the storm, Holloman may have late reporting for tomorrow.

Alamogordo Public Schools are releasing base schools at 1 p.m. today. They have also announced a 10 a.m. late start tomorrow.

Also, the below guidance applies for all 49th Force Support Squadron operations:
  • Child Care (CDC, School Age Program, and Youth and Teen Center): Youth and Teen Centers will be available for use until 4 p.m. If delayed tomorrow, care will be provided at regular hours for mission essential parents only. Full services will resume at the directed delayed reporting time. If canceled tomorrow, all child care providers are deemed non-essential. Customers requiring care are encouraged to exercise their Family Care Plans.
  • FSS Business Operations: Today operations will close at 3 p.m. except Outdoor Recreation who will stay open to rent snow equipment. If delayed tomorrow, FSS Business Operations will open at directed delayed reporting time. If canceled tomorrow, all business operations will be closed.
  • Domenici Fitness and Sports Center: Today will close at 4 p.m. If delayed tomorrow, will open at directed reporting time. If delayed 7:30 a.m. fitness assessments will be canceled. Please reschedule through your Unit Fitness Program Managers.
  • WAPS/ CDC testing: If delayed tomorrow those individuals will test once they report. For example, if report time is 10 a.m., then testing would begin at that time. If canceled tomorrow, those individuals scheduled to WAPS test will test on Dec. 9, CDC testers will be rescheduled for a later date.
  • Jingle Bell Banquet: Will go as scheduled tomorrow night unless otherwise contacted.
