Holloman set to raise $120,000 for CFC

HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  The 2011 Combined Federal Campaign kicked off Oct. 18 at the Domenici Fitness and Sports Center, offering local organizations a chance to showcase how Team Holloman can support thousands of charitable organizations with a simple donation.

All federal installations are encouraged to support local, national and international non-profit organizations that meet CFC eligibility requirements. It gives federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all, with over 3,000 organizations from which to choose.

The donations goal for this year's campaign at Holloman has risen to $120,000, up from last year's goal of $100,000. All military and civilians on base can voluntarily donate through Dec. 31.

"Every year, it's one of the most important things that we do, and we realize that consistently year after year," said U.S. Air Force Col. Kevin Huyck, 49th Wing vice commander. "We have not only met, but have exceeded our goal for the Combined Federal Campaign. Supporting something local or here on base really touches home, but no matter whom you give to or who you inspire to give, realize it's going to make a difference."

The vice commander emphasized that no matter how small our contribution, every little bit makes a difference to somebody. He wants each squadron representative to take the message out and make 100 percent contact, because it is the only way Holloman will meet its goal.

Natalie Roman, CFC coordinator for New Mexico's Southeast counties, said Team Holloman wouldn't miss a few dollars out every paycheck each month. It could be used toward helping an abandoned pet or a starving child.

"When you feel like you've done something with that money, then you feel good inside," Roman said.

She said there are so many different organizations to give to, there is something everyone can relate to.

A team of group and squadron representatives at Holloman will be handing out CFC campaign booklets that list all participating organizations looking for donations, as well as a payroll deduction sheet. These unit points of contact will provide 100 percent contact to all base members, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to learn about and contribute to this effort.
