The Alamogordo Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4101 donated $1,000 to the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 1257 "We Care" Veterans Program fund Feb. 18 in order to provide transportation, hats, socks and other gifts for local veterans.

"AFSA Chapter 1257 would like to say 'thank you' to our senior advisor, Mr. Gil Isley, for asking for the donation from the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4101 to our chapter's "We Care" Veterans Program, which takes care of the veterans who have led the way to our country's freedom," said Roland Cooper, AFSA Chapter 1257 president, who is also a retired Air Force master sergeant. "We salute you!"

Chapter 1257, which services Holloman Air Force Base, pays visits to veterans who live in Truth or Consequences on a quarterly basis. They also visit veterans in the local area at the Betty Dare Good Samaritan Center, Aristocrat, Casa Arena Blanca and in Mescalero on the third Saturday of each month to let them know they are appreciated and not forgotten.

The chapter holds membership drives on the 1st and 15th of every month at Holloman from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Base Exchange and from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Commissary. Monthly general membership meetings are also held on the third Friday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Raptors Nest Committee of 50 Room at the Officers' Club.
