Stay vigilant during trick or treat hours Published Oct. 28, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Sanjay Allen 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Trick or treat hours for Halloween on base this year will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Oct. 31. Residents may notice less patrols in housing from the 49th Security Forces Squadron during the trick-or-treat hours compared to the past because of minimal manning in the squadron. Capt. Sean Gibbs, 49th SFS, explained that a lot of the security forces Airmen are deployed so they can't support additional patrols for trick-or-treating on Halloween this year. Although security forces will not be increasing their patrols for the night, they are encouraging residents to remain vigilant in their neighborhoods and report any crime or suspicious activity to the Security Forces Control Center at 575-572-7171. People can also help out by volunteering for this year's Neighborhood Watch Program, formerly known as the "Goblin Patrol." "The more volunteers we have means the more sets of eyes we have keeping an eye on our most treasured resources, our children," said Master Sgt. Allen Gilmore, 49th SFS. "This is a good way to support your community," he added. "Just like with any other 49th Fighter Wing sponsored event, the 49th Security Forces Squadron's main concern is the security and safety of all personnel participating in this year's activities," Anyone who would like to help security forces with the neighborhood watch should contact Tech. Sgt. Rodney Cochran at 575-572-4309 or the SFCC. All volunteers are required to bring a reflective belt and flashlight.
