Seven digits required for on-base calls Published Sept. 8, 2009 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Members of Team Holloman will now have to dial seven digits when making an on-base phone call, for example, when calling the base operator, users must dial "572-1110" instead of the previous "2-1110". "The change is permanent and was directed by Air Combat Command in accordance with Air Force Instruction 33-111, Voice Systems Management," said Staff Sgt. Yazmin Smith, 49th Communications Squadron. Section 38.1 of AFI 33-111 states "all existing voice systems, and new systems, will transition to, or be installed with, a seven-digit intra-base dialing plan correlating to the seven-digit commercial telephone numbers assigned to the base."
