Air Force Airman 1st Class Christopher Lyn, originally from Jamaica, was the 30th member of the military naturalized by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' (USCIS) El Paso Field Office during May 2009. USCIS' month-long military naturalization initiative was in recognition of National Military Appreciation Month.

"We are totally committed to providing exceptional service to the military and their families, said El Paso Field Office Director Raymond Adams. "Our officers understand the tremendous sacrifices made by the military to defend our country, and we consider it an honor to stand with them as they recite the Oath of Allegiance and become citizens."

USCIS officers from El Paso regularly meet with the military community on Fort Bliss, Texas; Holloman Air Force Base, McGregor Range, and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to inform them of citizenship and other immigration services and benefits.

Since September 2001, USCIS has naturalized more than 48,000 service members in ceremonies across the United States and overseas.
