The U.S. Census Bureau will be going to addresses across Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., from May 18 to May 22 to collect information to complete Census 2010.

All census takers are sworn federal government employees with identification cards that should be fully displayed upon request. They can also provide their local census office phone number for verification of employment if requested.

The information collected by the Census Bureau employees is confidential by law and only authorized, sworn employees have access to reported information.

The basis for the policies regarding confidentiality is defined by Title 13, Section 9 of the U.S. Code. It states:

- Data from individuals, households and establishments must be kept confidential
- Data must be used only for statistical purposes
- Data must not be distributed in a manner than could be used to identify a respondent
- Data provided to the Census Bureau by individuals and establishments cannot be used in a court of law.

In his memorandum for all Holloman members, the 49th Fighter Wing commander, Col. Jeffrey Harrigian, thanked Team Holloman for their understanding and cooperation.

"Please allow the Census Bureau employees to enter our community for the performance of their official duties," he stated. "Your cooperation in granting access to them assists in their efforts to do a complete count of our community. This, in turn, will make data available for local government and business decisions made during the next decade."
