German Chief
Chosen by Chief Master Sgt. Wolfram Kindervater, Master Sgt. Michael Orth from the German Air Force Flying Training Center, was the recipient of the December 2008 Chief's Choice Award. He is the Information Technology Security Sergeant and has been the Acting First Sergeant for the Training Center. He is recognized for his outstanding efforts in expertly balancing his daily duties and the additional duty of First Sergeant during a busy deployment time for his unit. Sergeant Orth came to Holloman Air Force Base, N.M., in October 2006 from his hometown of Neustadt a.d.Wstr (close to Kaiserslautern). He is inspired in life by his grandfather and gives credit for his work inspiration to his First Sergeant in Basic Training. Michael is well on his way to achieving his goal of becoming a chief master sergeant and a full time First Sergeant. He is actively involved in traveling the United States and motorcycling both on and off road. His responses to receiving this award range from overwhelmed to surprise to extreme honor.
