As a part of the ongoing quality of life initiatives, it was recently announced that Holloman will be receiving a transportable Frisbee golf course.

Because the course is currently in the evaluation and planning stages, the expected date of operation will be announced at a later date.

According to Lt. Murillo, 49th Force Support Squadron, Frisbee golf coordinator, the Frisbee golf course will be transportable, so it can be moved depending on the occasion and the players input.

"What I've done is evaluated certain products and come up with one that will allow it to be moveable," said Lieutenant Murillo. "We can actually move it around the base for particular golf course difficulty, tournament aspects and to hold the customers interests."

The lieutenant said he was surprised at the amount of Frisbee golf enthusiasts on base.
"New Mexico has a large populous of enthusiasts for Frisbee golf in itself so what we want to try to do is provide this service to our Airmen," he said.

Mr. Bradley George, sports director with the 49th Force Support Squadron, will be assisting the members of Outdoor Recreation to get the new program up and running. He hopes that Frisbee golf will eventually be another sporting activity they can add to the Intramural Sports Program.

"We all grew up playing with Frisbee's as kids and now there is a sport that utilizes it," said Mr. George.

As with most sports, Outdoor Recreation intends to create teams depending on participation, said Lieutenant Murillo. They also plan to have tournaments, give out prizes, have weekend courses, and possibly classes to teach people how to play Frisbee golf.

"This is the type of program that gives us the ability to get families out of the house and active," said Mr. George. "This quality of life initiative will give the families of Holloman AFB another avenue to use for quality family time."

Frisbee golf is just one of many new programs as part of the ongoing quality of life initiative on Holloman, all with a common goal.

"The goal of all the quality of life initiatives is to improve the moral of the Airmen, to create a sense of community within Holloman and to create a service for our Airmen," said the lieutenant. "We want our Airmen to be happy and this is the kind of input we've gotten."
