Members from NASA's DC-X project recently visited Holloman in celebration of their 15-year reunion August 19.

The members were welcomed by Col. Michael McGee, 49th Fighter Wing vice commander and briefed by Col. Tom Currie, 46th Test Group, commander and Lt. Col. Carl Jones, 4th Space, commander, before being given a base tour.

"I wasn't sure what I expected when I came on the tour," said Mr. Larry Lemke, NASA aerospace engineer. "It was very interesting and informative; I didn't realize how many different space operations go on at Holloman."

The members visited the 746th Test Squadron where they received a walking tour of labs, and the 846th Test Squadron where they received a bus tour of the Maglev Track.

"I enjoyed the tour thoroughly, it was awesome," said Mr. Eric Thomas, Boeing engineering development mechanic. "It was more than I expected, I never knew there were so many things happening on this base."

The DC-X, a Single Rocket Technology program, was a Space Defense Initiative Office program to demonstrate technology readiness for a single stage to orbit vehicle, August 1990.

A systems ground test facility was activated at NASA's White Sands Test Facility, and a launch and recovery site at White Sands Missile Range, June 1994.
