The Professional Development Center here recently held a non-commissioned officer Professional Enhancement Course to help improve the leadership skills of NCO's stationed here.

The four-day long course comprised of different functional areas such as: drill and ceremonies, team building, counseling and mentoring, discipline, and effective Air Force writing. The last day is reserved for leadership training.

"The main reason NCO PEC exists is to bridge the gap between Airman Leadership School and the NCO academy," said Master Sgt. Robin Pfeifle, 49th Fighter Wing career assistance advisor. "It helps to get them motivated again and to kind of refresh any Air Force material they may have forgotten."

NCO PEC is a mandatory course for any staff or technical sergeant that hasn't had professional military education in the last three years.

"They get to share ideas, on how to deal with Airmen, and how to enhance themselves professionally," said Sergeant Pfeifle. "It gives them a lot of tools they can use for leadership and for their professional careers as well."
On the last day the NCO's enter the John Maxwell Leadership Course.

"The John Maxwell Leadership Course teaches them to be effective no matter where they're at in their organization," said Senior Master Sgt. Martin Fox, course facilitator.
This course has also helped NCO's to perfect some of their leadership skills.

"Being a part of this course has helped me refine a few of my leadership techniques," said Staff Sgt. Josh Ziriak, NCO PEC student. "This course gives you insight on a perspective you may not have yet."

The PDC holds other courses, such as Airman PEC and senior NCO PEC and even a company grade officer professional course is in the process of being built. The NCO PEC and APEC course is held every other month and senior NCO PEC is held once a year.
