Holloman fitness center helps keep Team Holloman fit to fight Published April 8, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Michael Means 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- In today's Air Force, all Airmen are charged with being mentally and physically fit to fight. The 49th Services Squadron Fitness and Sports Center here helps ensure each Team Holloman member have the classes and support they need to meet this goal. The Fitness Center has a wide range of individual and team athletic opportunities to include racquetball, squash, basketball, football, tennis and slow pitch softball. The fitness center has a cardio room, two complete circuit sets, a free weight room, indoor pool and saunas in the locker rooms. A large variety of classes such as cardio kickboxing, strength fusion, Pilates, hatha yoga, cycling, step aerobics, interval and strength conditioning are offered free of charge. They also offer a variety of water based classes such as water aerobics and strength training. "The Fitness Center offers many of these non-traditional classes to break away from normal exercise routines," said Mr. Gordon Benton, 49 SVS fitness director. "Our instructors are nationally certified." "The Holloman Fitness Center can arrange special request classes that can include equipment such as bosu balls, medicine balls, resister balls and resister bands," said Mr. Benton. "You can sign up for special request classes with your shop or flight to break the routine of normal physical training." "The Holloman Fitness Center meets a five-star standard," said Mr. George Bradley, 49 SVS sports director. To meet the five star standard the Fitness Center must run four out of five core sports that include flag football, volleyball, basketball, softball and soccer. According to Mr. George Morris, a Fitness Center customer, the Holloman Fitness Center is the best in the area.
