The Families Apart dinner took place Wednesday Feb.13, 2008, at the Holloman Air Force Base chapel annex. The Family Apart dinner takes place for spouses and children who have active duty members deployed, on remote tours, or extended temporary duty assignments.

"The Families Apart dinner happens once a quarter, and is on the second Wednesday of the month," said Amy Koehne of the Airman Family and Readiness Center. "The dinner gives the family a chance to not cook and clean but to just have a good time of food, fun and fellowship," she said.

Usually a squadron would host the dinner, as well as cook and serve the meal, but this time the staff at Soaring Heights volunteered to host the dinner.

"This isn't our first time hosting the Families Apart dinner; our first was in October," said Patsy Wilson of Soaring Heights Community. "We are a part of the same community, and we want to support our residents, and to let them know that we are here," she said.
