Families needed for Adopt an Airman program

There are airmen waiting to be hosted through the Holloman Adopt-An-Airman program, officials announced, and a shortage of sponsor families.

"I used to be stationed at the Air Force Academy," said Rob Sexton, 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs community relations manager, "and was always a sponsor to cadets. Adopt-an-Airman is like that, only easier."

Active-duty military families, base civilian workers of all types, and retirees are eligible to become sponsors.

"Our program is set up for your family to invite an Airman or two to your home for dinner," explained Amy Koehne, Airman and Family Readiness Center. "If your family and the Airmen decide to stay in contact after the initial dinner that is great."
