After a week of exploring what the Friendliest Place on Earth, Holloman Airmen are back and ready to take on upcoming tasks such as the Holloman Air and Space Expo Oct. 27-28.

Airmen were given two, two-day passes to explore what being stationed at Holloman is all about and what the local area has to offer. Many Airmen took off to Albuquerque, Carlsbad and Santa Fe, while others explored closer attractions like Ruidoso and Cloudcroft.

"I went golfing up in Cloudcroft," said Senior Airman Jonathan Hammons, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron emergency management flight. "The course was very nice and the hospitality of the community was amazing."

The golf course in Cloudcroft held a special for all military personnel during the Explore the Friendliest Place on Earth week.

"My family and I went to Roswell and Fort Sumner," said Senior Airman Migel Vega, 49th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. "The best thing was the Billy the Kid Museum and his grave."

The middle of the week, Sept. 26, was a sports day where events such as a softball tournament, swim race, bed race and a tug-of-war tournament took place.

"Events like the Explore the Friendliest Place on Earth week and sports day build morale for all Airmen tremendously," said Airman Hammons. "Now we can go back to work and concentrate on our warrior ethos."
