The 49th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office challenges you to explore the Friendliest Place on Earth and get your photos published on the Holloman Web site.

The Holloman Public Affairs office is holding a contest for photos taken during the Explore the Friendliest Place on Earth week Sept. 24-25 and 27-28.

The top 10 photos will be published on the Holloman public Web site, www.holloman.af.mil, and the winners will receive prizes from the Public Affairs office.

All photos must be in good taste and may not portray the image that the Air Force is endorsing a company or business. Examples are of a family eating at a restaurant, without giving the restaurant name, or a group of Airmen hiking in Cloudcroft, N.M.

Photos must be taken with a digital camera of three mega pixels or more and be sent to newsandinformation@holloman.af.mil with a resolution of 150 or higher, no later than 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

The Explore the Friendliest Place on Earth week has been designated as alternate-duty days by the 49th Fighter Wing to give Airmen and their families a chance to visit Alamogordo and surrounding areas after being introduced to it all at the Holloman Entertainment, Art and Travel Expo, Sept. 21.

"The partnership between Airmen and civilians at Holloman Air Force Base and our surrounding communities is outstanding," said Brig. Gen. David Goldfein, 49 FW commander. "During the HEAT Expo, Airmen, civilians and their families will have an opportunity to learn what living in the Friendliest Place on Earth is all about. They will be offered information on the many recreational activities available in the area during one event on base and then get the chance to explore the community the very next week. The HEAT opens the door to limitless recreational opportunities."
